Mount Pleasant Project

Community engagement

The Mount Pleasant Project is engaged in regular consultation and ongoing communication with our stakeholders. Feedback from neighbours and local communities is used to inform future decision-making by Coal & Allied. Our community relations programme is focused on building lasting relationships based on mutual respect, active partnership and long term commitment.

Recent examples of our consultation and involvement in the community include:

Listening to our community

If you have any comments, enquiries or feedback please contact the Mount Pleasant Community Information Line 1800 727 745 or email community.relations@rtca.riotinto.com.au.

The Mount Pleasant community newsletter keeps the community and Coal & Allied stakeholders informed about the progress of the project. The newsletter reports the latest project developments, outlines the history of the project including a map of the proposed mine area and provides contact details for the Community Consultative Committee and Mount Pleasant Project team.

The Mount Pleasant Community Consultative Committee was established in 2004, meeting regularly to provide a forum for open discussion between the community, the council and Coal and Allied representatives. The Committee discuss issues directly relating to the project and environmental monitoring, keeping the community informed on these matters and potential impacts.
