Community contributions

In 2007 the Coal & Allied Community Trust actively made a difference across the Hunter, supporting numerous initiatives in education and workforce training, business development and environmental initiatives that have reached out to thousands of people.

• The Building Better Business Programme, run by the Hunter Region Business Enterprise Centre, which offers professional, free and confidential assistance for area businesses.

• Funding for four grants officers who are employed by Singleton, Cessnock, Muswellbrook and the Upper Hunter Shire Councils.  The initiative enables local organisations to access funding for community based projects and initiatives.

Fifteen new projects were funded in 2007, building further capacity and enhanced sustainability for the area.  The Trust has now funded $2,767,790 for the 2005-2007 Trust period and since its inception in 1999 the Community Trust has funded programmes to the total value of $6.9 million.
