Waste

All of Coal & Allied's operations produce waste in some form, including mineral waste such as mined rock and tailings, and non-mineral material such as office waste.

Rio Tinto Coal Australia has put in place procedures to minimise the amount of waste produced by our operations and responsibly manage and dispose of waste through onsite disposal.

This approach not only limits our environmental footprint, but can have significant savings such as reduced energy consumption and lower future closure costs.
