Human resources
Coal and Allied has a total workforce of more than 2000 people across its three operations. With such a large and diverse workforce, our priorities are to attract and retain skilled people and provide them with outstanding career development opportunities.
Our approach
Coal & Allied employs on the basis of job requirements and does not discriminate on grounds of age, ethnic or social origin, gender, sexual orientation, politics or religion. Exceptions are made to favour local employment where local laws provide. We do not employ forced, bonded or child labour.
All employees are subject to a code of conduct, outlining certain minimum standards against which their behaviour will be measured. In addition to the Coal & Allied code of conduct, we are also guided by the Rio Tinto statement of business practices, The way we work. It ensures everyone reflects in their daily work the high standards and values of Rio Tinto, including accountability, fairness, integrity and openness.
Coal & Allied employees have the opportunity to further develop their skills through ongoing training. We are committed to strengthening leadership effectiveness and building organisational capability and an effective culture. To achieve this we run Leadership Development programmes, including the Business Leadership Development Programme, Operational Leadership Development Programme and Front Line Leadership Development Programme.
