Health

At our sites, many employees operate heavy equipment and machinery which is often noisy. Some employees use computers and for others heavy lifting is part of their daily tasks. If not managed properly, these activities can lead to various occupational related diseases.

We regard our employees as our most important asset, and regard protecting and enhancing their health and wellbeing as vital as we do their safety. Our goal is to ensure there are no new cases of occupational illness across our sites and that all of our employees have the opportunity to improve and protect their health and well being while working for Coal & Allied.

Our approach

Our safety management initiatives aim to protect the health and well being of our employees by reducing the risks which may lead to occupational related diseases. For example, all of our employees are required to wear personal protective equipment such as ear plugs when working near heavy machinery. This helps to reduce the risk of noise-induced hearing loss.

We also run health and wellbeing programmes, where employees have the opportunity to participate in exercise, attend talks on how to improve their personal and professional relationships, and how to improve their overall health and well being.

All Coal & Allied employees and their families have access to the Employee Assistance Programme, a confidential and voluntary counselling service, provided through an external organisation, to resolve personal, emotional or work related problems.
