Employment and training opportunities on offer with Coal & Allied
Hunter Valley community members are being urged to find out more about the employment and training opportunities currently being offered by Coal & Allied.
Manager Community Relations Jennifer Bowcock said an information session is being held on Wednesday the 25th of August in Coal & Allied's Singleton shopfront.
"Coal & Allied contributes strongly to the Hunter Valley, employing about 1800 people and 1300 contractors, as well as supporting thousands of other jobs by doing business locally," said Ms Bowcock.
"Right now, Coal & Allied is in the process of filling around 80 positions including jobs for experienced workers and graduates, traineeships, and vacation placements for university students.
"We'll have our human resource officers at our Singleton shopfront from midday to 3pm on Wednesday, for people to talk to directly about opportunities with Coal & Allied.
"People can also drop into the shopfront anytime this month to look at our new display on working for Coal & Allied and talk to our staff."
During September, the Singleton shopfront will feature information on Coal & Allied's investment in the Hunter Valley community.
"Coal & Allied contributes strongly to the Hunter Valley, and has invested more than $9.6 million through its community development funds," said Ms Bowcock.
"We continue to support a wide range of programmes this year, including the Hunter Medical Research Institute's Healthy Dads, Healthy Kids project, Conservation Volunteers Australia's work on the Hunter Valley's rivers and the Parents and Learning program in Muswellbrook, getting indigenous parents involved in their children's learning.
"We also undertake a range of corporate sponsorships, such as our support for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service, and our Community Alliance with the Newcastle Knights."
Representatives from Coal & Allied's community development funds will be available at the Singleton shopfront from 9am to midday on the 15th of September and midday to 3pm on the 29th of September.
The shopfront at 127 John Street, Singleton, is open to all members of the community year-round during business hours, Monday to Friday. Coal & Allied also has a freecall telephone enquiries line 1800 727 745 and an 'email us' facility at info@rtca.riotinto.com.au.
