Our programmes
Graduate development programme
Our graduate development programme is designed to unearth the true potential of qualified young professionals who have the capability to fill future technical and management leadership roles within Coal & Allied and the wider Rio Tinto Group. The graduate programme offers valuable professional and personal development opportunities gained through on-the-job experience.
Coal & Allied graduates have hands-on roles, with real responsibilities and challenges that contribute to the performance of the organisation. On completion of the programme, graduates have opportunities to apply for positions throughout Coal & Allied and the wider Rio Tinto Group. Graduate applications are accepted annually. To apply or for more information, visit the Rio Tinto Graduate website.
Traineeships and Apprenticeships
Coal & Allied is committed to providing training and employment opportunities to allow young people the opportunity to start their careers on the right foot. Our sites have an apprentice programme which offers approximately 10 positions annually. Additional apprentice and trainee positions are offered in an extensive range of areas including mechanical fitting, metal fabrications, electrical, automotive and business administration.
Indigenous employment
As part of our commitment to supporting our local communities and to maintain mutually beneficial relationships with our Aboriginal communities, Coal & Allied has developed an Indigenous Employment Strategy to encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to join our organisation. The strategy aims to encourage Indigenous applicants by assisting them through the application process and providing culturally appropriate recruitment support.
